About Me:
I am new to Westlake and the Austin area and am very excited to be here. I have been teaching high school science for over 25 years. I have a B.S. in Geology/
Geophysics from the University of Arkansas. I got my teacher certification as part of a M.S. in Science Education in Biology at Texas Woman’s University in Denton. My last collegiate work was earning a M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction in Science Integration from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. Here at Westlake I will be teaching AP Environmental Science and PreAP Biology.
As well as my teaching I have been involved in a number of other consulting or educational projects. I have been a College Board AP Environmental Science and PreAP Science Consultant for the last 5 years. I have also worked with the National Math and Science Initiative as a Consultant, Teacher Mentor, and Student Trainer for the past 6 years. I am happy to say I have enjoyed working with the UT Jackson School of Geosciences off and on since I first moved to the Central Texas area in 1999. The latest project there being part of the Dig Texas Blueprints team. I have also worked on a number of publishing efforts. As well as study guides, teacher ancillaries, and online science projects, I am the science content contributor to the book, “TASC for Dummies.”
In my spare time I enjoy anything outdoors and the occasional bingwatching of intriguing, as well as mindless, television programs.
